Hi! I'm Kalah!
I began my career in childcare in 2017 when I joined a daycare in Downtown Baltimore. There, I worked as a teacher's aide with children aged three months to six years, dedicating three and a half years to this role. However, the pandemic changed everything. After a few months, I decided to transition into nannying, which became my main focus from mid-2020 over the next four years. During this time, I had the privilege of working with six different families, and I truly value the unique experiences and connections I formed with each one.
I am starting a new chapter as a Substitute Teacher for the Baltimore County Public School system. This role allows me to collaborate with fellow educators and instruct students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. This journey has been incredibly fulfilling, and I am excited to continue positively impacting the lives of children within the school system.
I am pursuing my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education at Coppin State University and hold an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from the Community College of Baltimore County. Throughout my studies, I completed 90 hours of coursework in Childhood Development, 45 hours in Infant and Toddler Care, and training in School-Age Care. I am also certified in CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid.
In my free time, I enjoy a variety of hobbies, including reading, baking, music, solving puzzles, and watching Disney movies. Parents often describe me as a committed, caring, and interactive teacher or caregiver. I believe in offering children a balance of guidance and space for positive self-expression. We can learn so much from children; they help us grow as individuals. That's why I continually strive to be the best teacher or babysitter.
