Meet Kalah: A babysitter in Essex, MD

Hi! I'm Kalah!

I began my career in childcare in 2017 when I joined a daycare in Downtown Baltimore. There, I worked as a teacher's aide with children aged three months to six years, dedicating three and a half years to this role. However, the pandemic changed everything. After a few months, I decided to transition into nannying, which became my main focus from mid-2020 over the next four years. During this time, I had the privilege of working with six different families, and I truly value the unique experiences and connections I formed with each one.

I am starting a new chapter as a Substitute Teacher for the Baltimore County Public School system. This role allows me to collaborate with fellow educators and instruct students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. This journey has been incredibly fulfilling, and I am excited to continue positively impacting the lives of children within the school system.

I am currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education program at Coppin State University. Additionally, I hold an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from the Community College of Baltimore County. Throughout my studies, I completed 90 hours of coursework in Childhood Development, 45 hours in Infant and Toddler Care, and training in School-Age Care. I am also certified in CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid.

In my free time, I enjoy a variety of hobbies, including reading, baking, music, solving puzzles, and watching Disney movies. Parents often describe me as a committed, caring, and interactive teacher or caregiver. I believe in offering children a balance of guidance and space for positive self-expression. We can learn so much from children; they help us grow as individuals. That's why I continually strive to be the best teacher or babysitter.
